I'd say 'good morning' to reflect the nature of this post, but quite frankly, it's 7:35 at night and I just feel like this is a reasonable time to talk breakfast. Why? Because reasons.
One pearl I share with patients is the power in setting an intention. Yes, we are aware that keeping a food record can be one way to promote change, and meal prepping is another key pillar in facilitating change. But before (and during)... set an intention.
Set your intention the night before, what will I do for myself, to be my best self? Setting an intention for your next day can help blaze the trail when you are navigating your day. Maybe your intention is to hydrate well, or maybe your intention is to have purposeful foods handy, rather than just 'winging it'. One frequent intention is starting the day with breakfast.
Over 50% of the folks I've worked with over the years don't consistently eat breakfast. I get it, skipping happens. If I didn't have the right foods in the right places, I would either A.) starve (ha, like I'd let that happen) B.) eat all my emergency food in my office (more likely) or C.) hit up the drive-thru for some food items I don't really even want to be eating, but play the "I better tank up for my crazy day!" card, for which no breakfast sandwich could adequately prepare me.
So set an intention to get a breakfast each morning. Help that intention come to fruition by meal prepping. Don't know what to meal prep? Well here's the point of my post - Breakfast Bites! I'm going to share some breakfast ideas with you.
Ready-to-drink protein beverage (my go-to)
Wake n' shake
Starting your day off on the right foot not only gives you the right fuel for the job, but also a subconscious confidence boost that can carry over, helping you stay aligned with your intentions for choosing foods that support your own personal mission, be it weight gain/loss, improved strength or focus, or simply optimal nourishment.
Do you have a go-to breakfast item? Share it! We would love to know.
